WATERCOLOR PAINTING

My watercolor paintings use bright color and intricate pattern to integrate literary or mythological references into my personal experience. Many of the themes are about the life and death cycle. “Indirect Flight,” was created in the afterglow of a visit to the Rosicrucian Museum in San Jose. Bird, cat and baboon mummies wrapped in woven linen strips...who wouldn’t want to write home about them? My fascination with illuminated manuscripts led to my fabricated “The Book of Turns” wherein I created several paintings with an excuse to use lots of gold ink. “The Last Roundup” is my response to the crisis of the African elephant as an endangered species.
